At one point, it used to only be available late night. There is a pretty interesting story surrounding the H&F burger. Made from half chuck and half brisket, it is ground in house and formed into patties by hand. Although we both have had it before, we felt as though we could not visit the restaurant and not indulge. H&F makes almost everything from scratch.Īs Garry and I looked around the busy restaurant, every…single…table had the double cheeseburger. If you haven’t noticed the trend, I say homemade quite a bit. On this particular Sunday it was served with a homemade potato salad that was a little spicy from the homemade mustard that was used. It’s not your typical overly seasoned and salty fried chicken, however it is still very good. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. Us Southerners love our fried chicken and Holeman and Finch did not skip a beat. There are specials everyday and the menu also changes daily, so I wanted to highlight an entree that you can expect to see on the menu weekly. I loved this dish so much I want to recreate it at home.įor one of our entrees we decided to go with the Sunday special, the Mary Randolph’s fried chicken. The saltiness of the tasso ham is balanced with the spicy creole seasonings. I can honestly say this dish was perfection. It is all then piled on top of a large piece of toast that soaked up the juices from the shrimp. The shrimp is sauteed with tasso ham, red bell peppers, tomatoes, creole seasonings, Worcestershire sauce and a touch of cream. Garry and I literally went back and forth saying how much we loved this dish. Our server recommending the Creole Shrimp as our other appetizer was a brilliant idea. I don’t eat a lot of tomatoes unless it is in a dish, but having the tomatoes as the main focal point gave me a new appreciation for them. Pair that with the fresh tomatoes on top of toast and you have a light Summer dish that is simple yet flavorful and a great start to any meal. I had a chance to make mayo from scratch in culinary school and trust me it tastes nothing like what you get in the store. First up was the fresh and thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes served with homemade mayo and toast. Holeman and Finch hot and cold plates are designed for sharing, so Garry and I went ahead and ordered something from each taking recommendations from our server. You probably know by now that brunch is my favorite weekend activity, so what better time to explore the menu then on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? I asked my friend Garry to tag a long since he was the person to introduce me to Holeman and Finch a couple of months back.īrunch must be enjoyed with a glass of sparkling wine They are pretty well-know for them, but I wanted to explore the menu a little further to see what else the restaurant had to offer. You may know Holeman and Finch because of their delicious burgers.
